Metastable States in Two-Lane Traffic Flow Models With Slow-To-Start Rule
نویسنده
چکیده
Using computer simulations, we show that metastable states still occur in two-lane traffic models with slow to start rules. However, these metastable states no longer exist in systems where aggressive drivers (which do not look back before changing lanes) are present. Indeed, the presence of only one aggressive driver in the circuit, triggers the breakdown of the high flow states. In these systems, the steady state is unique and its relaxation dynamics should depend on the lane changing probability pch and the number of aggressive drivers present in the circuit. It is found also that the relaxation time τ diverges as the form of a power-law : τ ∝ p ch , β = 1. Absence of Metastable States in Two-Lane Traffic Flow Models With Slow-To-Start Rule
It is widely known that one-lane traffic models with slow-to-start rule exhibit phase separation and metastability. In this paper, we show that no metastable states exist in the two-lane version of the VDR model. We show also that the structure of the steady state as well as its corresponding relaxation dynamics depend on the lanechanging probability pch. Moreover, the relaxation time τ diverge...
متن کاملMetastable States in CA models for Traffic Flow
Measurements of traffic flow show the existence of metastable states of very high throughput. These observations cannot be reproduced by the CA model of Nagel and Schreckenberg (NaSch model), not even qualitatively. Here we present two variants on the NaSch model with modified acceleration rules (’slow-to-start’ rules). Although these models are still discrete in time and space, different types...
متن کاملMetastable states in cellular automata for traffic flow
Measurements on real traffic have revealed the existence of metastable states with very high flow. Such states have not been observed in the Nagel-Schreckenberg (NaSch) model which is the basic cellular automaton for the description of traffic. Here we propose a simple generalization of the NaSch model by introducing a velocity-dependent randomization. We investigate a special case which belong...
متن کاملIdentifying and Analyzing Stop and Go Traffic based on Asymmetric Theory of Driving Behavior in Acceleration and Deceleration
Stop and go traffic that leads to oscillate traffic flow frequently is observed on congestion flow. Unexpected reasons such as lane – changing maneuvers, lower speeds of leader vehicle and moving bottleneck cause stop and go traffic and amplifying delay and environment impacts. Stop and go traffic exactly can’t be modeled by traffic models, and also car following models based on kinematic flow ...
متن کاملA new stochastic cellular automaton model on traffic flow and its jamming phase transition
A general stochastic traffic cellular automaton (CA) model, which includes slow-to-start effect and driver’s perspective, is proposed in this paper. It is shown that this model includes well known traffic CA models such as NagelSchreckenberg model, Quick-Start model, and Slow-to-Start model as specific cases. Fundamental diagrams of this new model clearly show metastable states around the criti...
